Tone Craft guitars is owned and operated by Doug Sewell in Mead, Washington. Doug was introduced to craftsmanship and working with his hands as a youth working with his father in the plumbing and pipe-fitting trade. He began his apprenticeship while still in high school working in most aspects of the trade including, project mangement and estimating. He finished out his career in the industry as a plumbing product sales rep. During his time working in the field, he also had a chance to be involved in building several houses including his own and developed a passion for carpentry and woodworking.

Dougs father and uncle played and collected guitars and introduced him to the instrument and the music of incredible guitarists of the 60’s and 70’s. He began playing guitar at age twelve. He did not become aware of the craft of luthiery until reading a article about a guitar building school in a guitar magazine. Doug completed the Journyman program at Galloup School of Luthiery in 2009 and started building guitars and ukuleles on a part time basis in 2010. He started building full time in 2023.
